What is the cause of Damp walls?

There are several reasons for damp walls. Here is a brief overview of some causes:

• Building moisture – that is the moisture that is present in the building materials and has not yet dried out.
• Cold or thermal bridges which can lead to condensation;
• Humidifier or incorrect ventilation, which can lead to condensation water
• Broken pipes
• A broken roof where it can rain through
• Missing or broken waterproofing membranes around the property – that protects against seepage or slope pressurized water
• Driving rain or splash water
• Rising Damp in properties without or compromised damp proof course (dpc)
